CLAMF Competition 17th August 2014

Combined Speed. A better day weather-wise for our August speed comp held over from last weekend.

Only a few speed fliers attended so we ran the competition with the help of our regular timekeepers Ron Savage and Phil Wake.

David Shackleford came to compete with his .049 Proto model but hit the ground after a few laps. Next time he will have a real ‘mans’ engine such as a Novarossi .21.

Noel flew his Proto powered by a Force .21 and his Perky but did achieve the required 3 flights for an average time.

I flew my newly built .21 Proto flying wing with a worn out Novarossi .21. The engine has been hardly been used over 12 years only ever needing to replace 5 glow plugs (using 60% nitro) and it has already worn out.. they don’t make them like they used to !

Also flew the Classic Proto .25 FX Swooper and finally achieved a sub 30 sec for 14 laps time of 29.69 sec. but was disqualified due to the outboard wing coming off in flight.

Ken Hunting came to fly 1/2A Proto using South Australian rules. It sometimes seems every town has their own set rules. Noel had one flight of his Class 5 Speed model (.21).

The next Speed competition at CLAMF is on the 19th October (note the Albury competition on 4th & 5th October). If anyone wants a day at Knox please let me know a date that does not clash with Stunt. Maybe we can run the grass for the long line events at CLAMF on the big grass circle. Thoughts?
