Sunday 11th December was club Team Racing and Navy Carrier day at

CLAMF AEROSPORTS Flying Day
Speed; F2B; Burford Vintage A T/R
Today’s events of Speed, F2B
Aerobatics and Burford A team race were held during humid and overcast
conditions. There were no complaints though as there was only a little of
the dreaded wind that can put an end to modelling activities when it gets
excessive.

The scheduled
competitions for last weekend were cancelled due to unfavourable weather
conditions. Today’s conditions were much more pleasant and the speed

making the most of the prepared surfaces It was a great day for

CLAMF AEROSPORTS Flying
Day
Classic Stunt; Vintage
Stunt; Classic B Team Race; F2F
Perfect
conditions greeted members and visitors for a stunt and racing Sunday at
CLAMF Aerosports. Classic B team race time trials commenced first up with
a round of Classic Stunt following shortly thereafter. Pilots were
challenged by the lack of wind over the course of the day, a rarity in
Melbourne! A 'Michelin 3 star' BBQ lunch was then prepared by Andrew, our
own 'Master Chef'. ...... ... more |

A warm sunny
day greeted members for the annual CLAMF Aerosports Triathlon competiton.

CLAMF AEROSPORTS Flying
Day
Speed; 1/2A Combat;
Vintage A T/R
Sunday was purposed to be our Combined Speed and Vintage A club
meeting, however it blew and blew, was blooming cold, and then it
rained. The events were cancelled, however we returned to the Club
House, put on the kettle and had a coffee/tea and mouth-racing
session. Much fun was had by all. We also relocated John's tank ...... ... more |

CLAMF AEROSPORTS Flying
Day
Navy Carrier; F2B;
Classic FAI T/R; Goodyear
Scheduled competitions were postponed due
to very wet ground conditions so this day would see many flyers take the
opportunity to test fly new engine and model combinations. A few new faces
also took advantage of the club trainer for some valuable tuition from
more experienced members. As expected Melbourne's weather produced cold
blustery winds which made flying conditions challenging. ...... ... more |

NSW STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
It was a wet
and windy 2011 NSW State Championships. Despite the damp conditions, it
didn’t stop those that came to fly from getting into the spirit of all the
events and that meant some close competition in the racing circle. ...... ... more |

VIC STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Spectators in Australia do not often have the opportunity to see two World
Champion teams in action at the same venue.
The Simons/Potter combination was in action against the current World F2C
World Champions Fitzgerald/Ellins at Frankston with the other Australian
representatives of Letchford/Walton and Wilson/Poschkens thrown in for
good measure.

ALBURY T/R & SPEED MEET, April
2011
If
you can imagine the weather to be absolutely perfect, then that was
the scene that greeted the modelling enthusiasts who arrived in Albury
on the first weekend in April for the Racing & Speed weekend. Not a
cloud in the sky, around 20 C and just a gentle breeze. All
in all, it was a really top weekend. For those that didn’t make it, please
try and get to the next one. Even if you have no pilot or pitman, still
come along.

CLAMF AEROSPORTS Competition Day
Hot and mild wind for our
march comp. First up was Noel with a new latest model OS 12 car motor for
class 1, it has a large square head, tuning problems and therefore not
enough laps in pylon put an end to that. Will need more testing, I suggest
more pitch as I had similar problems with my older nova 12 years ago, I
knew it had the power by test prop put screamed on ground and then rich in
air and fast/slow in air, I had been using props I normally used for my
class 1.

S.A. STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Six teams fronted Sunday
morning for a bit of VTR fun at the Monarto hard surface in South
Australia. Ric Justic and Paul Stein again had clearly the fastest heat
with a blistering 3:12.94. Next quickest was Murray Wilson and Mark
Poschkens with a 3:22.36 followed by Hallowell/Baker on 3:27.20. Just 22
hundredths of a second behind that was Wilson/Ellins on 3:27.42. Close!
The 160 lap final was flown in windy conditions and was won easily by Ric
and Paul in 7:06.35 from John and Neil in 7:16.6.

CLAMF AEROSPORTS Flying Day
A bit over 12 months
since we last had a Carrier Comp. So, after a couple of aborted
attempts due to lousy weather and a wet flying field, we finally got
some decent weather to get the deck out and do a bit of flying.
The day turned out to be a fairly relaxed affair rather than a serious
comp with nearly everyone having a few problems of one sort or
another. Harry and Bryce had their new Brodak Bearcats to try on the
deck for the first time, both powered by Thunder Tiger 36's. The TT36
certainly doesn't lack grunt, Harry adopting the vertical take off
technique !!

CLAMF AEROSPORTS Midweek Day
There was a good roll up
today, with Lance Smith, Andrew Nugent, Murray Wilson, Peter Roberts,
Gavan Opperman and myself all getting stuck into a bit of practice.
Weather was spot on after all the rain. Cloudy, light winds, low 20's and
the occasional burst of sunshine made for ideal flying conditions. Flying
was virtually constant from 11 am to 3 pm with a short lunch break for
coffee, sandwiches and fruit.

CLAMF AEROSPORTS Competition Day
Speed; Navy Carrier; Vintage Combat
The current weather patterns
are continuing to play havoc with the scheduled flying days. Three weeks
ago the field was mown but the recent deluge created a flooded grass area
which could not be mown again and the grass in some areas has grown to be
a foot high. As a consequence Carrier Deck and Vintage Combat were
cancelled but the Speed contest was able to go ahead on the concrete
circle.
